Hello Maxfund--I did not make it up there with Seth when intended, and after a month of dealing with knee replacement surgery (husband), doubt that I will for quite a while! So, I wanted to send an update that is intended, if you wish, to be a part of the Success Stories page.

We all recommend the Maxfund to anyone we meet who might be looking for a dog to love, and tell them our story of losing our wonderful Andy to cancer. We did not plan to even consider another dog until after the first of the year when my husband's knee surgery was behind us, but my daughter looked up the Maxfund page just a few days after the loss of Andy, and there in the middle of the thumbnails was Seth's face looking right into my heart! He was so much like Andy, yet enough different to  make us wonder if he would be of interest at all. Long story short, we headed up there to meet him the next day. Seth was silent, but came to the gate and looked into our faces so we took him for a walk.

We then headed home thinking that he could be what we were looking for. I called my husband at work when we were almost to Castle Rock to see if he would stop by to see him himself, and he said he would, so we turned around and went back. It took only a few minutes for my husband to agree that Seth was for us, so we filled out the application and were approved to bring him home!

Seth needed to be cleaned up, and taught what it means to be on a horse ranch, but he was ready and willing, so in short order, all was well in both our worlds. He is not only wonderful with the many adults and children who come here to ride, but he and our 5 year old grandson have become very close friends. They often lie on the floor nose to nose and seem to share secrets. We are expecting a granddaughter in the spring, so he will have another child to care for and protect soon.

We appreciate the Maxfund so much for many reasons--perhaps the most is that Seth could have easily been misunderstood because he was very quiet and introverted, intimidated by any motions toward his head that he seemed to be a bit frightening to some folks. Having experience with his Chow breeding, we understood him, and are so grateful that  his time at the Maxfund was positive for him.

Seth is a part of our family now, and we thank you all for your kindness to us and Seth. Also, for your website photos!

Please us any part of this that you feel will work for you, if any at all. I will include a photo taken shortly after we got him home.
